CACREP Statistics and Accreditation

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Students in this program are prepared and evaluated across 8 core areas based on CACREP standards. As part of our accreditation, the CMHC program faculty evaluates student and program outcomes and analyzes the aggregate and disaggregated results to make data driven program decisions annually. The results of the data collected is explained in the table below and in our Vital Statistics and Program Outcome Reports.

Employment of mental health counselors is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations. In 2022, there were 388,200 counselors employed nationwide. Employment projections for 2032 shows a 18% increase to 459,600 with 42,000 projected annually (bls.gov).

Texas A&M University – Texarkana is located in a unique location bordering three states: Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, while located in Texas. The job market for clinical mental health counselors is plentiful. Licensed Professional Counselors who are graduates of our program can be found within a 100-mile radius, creating a strong alumni network.
