Review Admission Requirements
Students must meet one of the following requirements:
- Top 30% class rank
- 2.75 GPA+ on a 4.0 scale
- SAT score 1060+ (after March 2016) / SAT score 980+ (before March 2016)
- ACT score 21+
Admission to A&M-Texarkana is based on State of Texas Uniform Admission Policy and institutional admissions standards.

Dual Credit Classes
Dual credit courses are college-level courses that you have taken through a local college while in high school. To receive credit for these courses, you must submit official transcripts from the institution that offered the dual credit to the office of admissions. See submit documents below for instructions.
Advanced Placement & College Level Examination Program
Students may earn some course credit by demonstrated achievement on standardized tests such as the Advanced Placement Program (AP) and the College Level Examination Program (CLEP).
Students should submit official Advanced Placement (AP) and CLEP scores to the office of admissions for review and to award credit for those subject areas in which the minimum score required has been achieved.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Credit
In compliance with the State of Texas Senate Bill 111, the university accepts at least 24 semester credit hours of International Baccalaureate (IB) credit in approved subject areas (listed below) from students who have earned the IB Diploma.
Submit Documents
Transcripts
You must submit an official, sealed copy of your high school transcript(s) in order for your application to be processed. If you took dual-credit courses, you must also submit your official transcript from the institution that offered the dual-credit course(s).
To submit your transcript, contact your high school or counselor. Official transcripts can be mailed to TAMUT Admissions Office | 7101 University Ave | Texarkana TX 75503. To expedite processing, your transcript can be sent electronically. Ask your high school for more information.
ACT/SAT Scores
Although ACT or SAT scores are no longer required for admissions, we highly recommend that you take either exam and have those scores sent to our university. Not only can these scores help in receiving an admissions decision, but also are needed for some scholarships.

Bacterial Meningitis Requirement
All entering students are required to show evidence of an initial bacterial meningitis vaccine or a booster dose during the five-year period preceding and at least 10 days prior to the first day of the first semester in which the student initially enrolls at an institution.

Apply for Housing
Freshman students are required to live on-campus for their first year. The housing application can be found in Web for Students and typically opens in the month of January. At the time of application, you will be required to pay a non-refundable $100 application fee.
Additionally, it is required that all students residing on campus purchase a meal plan. You will select your meal plan during the housing application process. For more information on housing, visit our page on Bringle Lake Village. To increase your chances of receiving your preferred room, it is important you apply early and by the priority deadline.
TSI (If Applicable)
Texas Success Initiative and Developmental Education (TSI) is a requirement for all students entering a higher education institution in the state of Texas and is used to help determine if students are ready for college-level coursework.
Students are responsible for providing proof of exemption. Unsure if you qualify for an exemption? Email advising@tamut.edu. We encourage you to study and test early for a seamless registration process at orientation.

ALEKS (Select Majors)
We determine your preparedness for Calculus I by requiring that you complete an online assessment known as the ALEKS Placement, Preparation, and Learning Assessment. If you are majoring in one of the following majors, you need to plan to take this assessment: Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
Student Orientation, Advising, & Registration (SOAR)
All freshman students are required to attend an orientation experience that is designed to provide a foundation for student success and to help gain an understanding of life as an Eagle.
