Dr. Daniel Mintun, Program Co-Chair
Assistant Professor of Political Science
Daniel Mintun earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Texas, with an emphasis on international relations and conflict management. His scholarship focuses on various issues surrounding civil wars, international conflict, and human rights, with a specific focus on conflict management efforts (i.e., peacekeeping and mediation). He has presented his research at multiple conferences, including the American Political Science Association (APSA), the International Studies Association (ISA), and the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA). He is also passionate about getting students involved in their local community and getting them civically engaged. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University - Texarkana.
Dr. Michael Perri, Program Co-Chair
Professor of History
Michael Perri earned a Ph.D. in Latin American history from Emory University, a M.A. in Latin American and Iberian Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and a B.A. in History and German, also from UCSB. His research has focused on the sixteenth-century Spanish conquest and colonization along the Pearl Coast of eastern Venezuela. He is the author of “‘Ruined and Lost’: Spanish Destruction of the Pearl Coast in the Early Sixteenth Century” published in Environment and History (2009) and “Ambiguous Authority: Juan de Frías and the Audiencia of Santo Domingo Confront the Conquistador Antonio Sedeño” published in The Americas (2017). Currently, he is a Professor of History at Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
