Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Funds

As part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Texas A&M University (TAMUT) received a total of $1,525,001 in Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF).  In order to receive this allocation, we signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent ($762,501) of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. 

During the spring 2020 semester:

TAMUT invited, via email, 1,188 eligible students to apply for the CARES Act HEERF.  TAMUT awarded $376,624.25 to 255 students utilizing the awarding process developed by the Emergency Aid Grants Committee and approved by the Texas A&M University System leadership.

During the fall 2020 semester:

TAMUT invited, via email, 1554 eligible students to apply for the CARES Act HEERF.  TAMUT awarded $385,876.75 to 423 students utilizing the awarding process developed by the Emergency Aid Grants Committee and approved by the Texas A&M University System leadership.

Year to date:

TAMUT has awarded $762,501 of our $762,501 allocation to 467 unduplicated students.
